Scientific Profile

Pink Opal forms from silica gel solidifying within cracks and cavities, retaining water molecules within its structure. Unlike precious opals, it does not display play-of-colour, but instead is prized for its soothing pink tones. Peruvian pink opal is considered the highest quality, valued for its consistent colouring.

Due to its water content, Pink Opal can dehydrate over time if exposed to heat or sunlight, causing small cracks (crazing). For this reason, it must be treated with care.

Metaphysical Properties

Pink Opal is regarded as a stone of love, compassion, and emotional renewal. Its pastel tones reflect its gentle and nurturing energy, often described as a balm for the heart.

On an emotional level, Pink Opal is considered a comforter in times of grief, sadness, or emotional turbulence. It encourages acceptance and helps release pent-up emotions, making space for forgiveness and peace. Many people keep it close during heartbreak or transitions as a symbol of healing and tenderness.

On a spiritual level, Pink Opal resonates with the Heart Chakra, inviting openness and trust. It is believed to quiet emotional noise so that intuition and self-compassion can rise to the surface. For those who struggle with self-worth, Pink Opal can symbolise a gentle reminder of one’s inherent value and beauty.

In manifestation and growth, Pink Opal encourages gentle confidence and self-acceptance. Instead of pushing or striving, it aligns with flow and renewal — supporting slow, meaningful change rooted in love.
